Some suggestions...

After applying for a course, your application will be assessed, and where successful, you’ll receive a conditional offer stating the necessary entry requirements or conditions for your chosen course.  We will check you have achieved these prior to enrolment. Instead of a formal interview process, we’ll support you to make sure you have chosen the right course for your future goals.

    • Step 1 - Choose your subject area

Use our website to help you choose the right course. Our course pages and industry area pages are packed with information to help you choose.  If you’re not sure of your next steps, then why not try Career Coach?  Career Coach is designed to help you explore career options and pathways!

If you would like to talk to someone about making your decision, please contact us on 07436 860238 (Mon-Fri 9.00am-4.00pm) or email us: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. where you can request an information advice and guidance call.

    • Step 2 – Apply online

Click 'Apply now!' on your chosen course. If you haven’t done so already, you’ll need to create an account and then continue through the application until it is successfully submitted.

Remember, you only need to apply to one level of your chosen course - we'll make sure you start on the right level when you have received your results.

Once you have applied, you will need to revisit the online learner portal to accept your offer and upload your ID and exam results, so make sure you keep hold of the login details.

    • Step 3 - Accept your offer

Once our Admissions team have assessed your application, to ensure you are (1) applying for an appropriate level of course; (2) you are entitled to study in the UK; (3) that we can meet your support needs where applicable; (4) that you have received any necessary funding information relating to your course, then you will be sent a conditional offer via email. On the email, we will detail the necessary entry requirements or conditions for your chosen course.

All you need to do then is follow the instructions on our online learner portal to accept your place. (Once again, don't worry about which level you have applied for - we'll make sure you start on the right course level once you've received your results. Simply confirm your place at BSDC and we'll do the rest.)

    • Step 4 - Getting to know you call

We’re keen to find out more about you, your education starting point and what your future ambitions are.

Following the completion of your application you will be contacted (via telephone appointment) by the Course or Programme Leader for a guidance interview.

The guidance interview is of course the perfect opportunity for the Course or Programme Leader to introduce themselves and answer any specific questions you have about your chosen programme or career.

You don’t need to prepare for the guidance interview, unless you have specific questions you would like to ask. The Course or Programme Leader will use your responses to the ‘getting to know you application questions’ to help form the basis of your discussions.

    • Step 5 – Enrol online

In August, our Online Enrolment section will open on the online learner portal.  Here, you will be able to upload your ID, photo, exam results and check that your personal information is still correct.

    • Step 6 – Start College

Welcome to Team BSDC! Most of our courses will start in September where your tutor will provide a full induction and you’ll receive your college timetable. Starting college can be daunting but don’ worry, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way!

If you have any issues registering or logging into the Learner Portal, our Learner Services Team will be on hand to help via the following email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
