Course overview
This course allows students who have completed a Foundation degree (or equivalent) in Illustration to progress to a BA Honours Degree.
This BA (Hons) top up course allows you to enhance relevant industry skills and processes, and graduate with a refined and professional portfolio of work in the field of Illustration. You will work practically through client-led and negotiated briefs that require the recognition and application of professional practice. You will also be aware of professional expectations and be able to develop an independent route towards your individual career or postgraduate goals.
If you select this course, you will be combining your skills in art, design and creative practice to explore options for earning your living within the field of illustration, whether that is through traditional or contemporary media and methods.
You’ll be working to produce images through hand and/or digital methods that will have identified clients and routes to market. You will have the opportunity to explore various career options and plan a career route accordingly. As an illustrator, you might be considering work as a freelance illustrator for images for clothing companies, developing images to support magazine articles or children’s books, working on technical images for manuals or pursuing a career as a medical illustrator.
As you progress and your confidence grows, you will undertake increasingly complex, challenging and exciting projects. You will also receive advice and guidance on applying to jobs and masters level study.
Applications from mature candidates are welcomed and considered on an individual basis.
This qualification is awarded by University of Staffordshire. For more detailed course information, go to our University of Staffordshire partner page.
Please note: Specified course fee is full time and per year. A part time option is available at £52.50 per credit.
