Access to Higher Education (HE) courses are designed for adults aged 19+ years who would like to study at university level but don't currently reach the entry requirements. They are Level 3 programmes, which usually involve two days in college each week. They are equivalent to three A levels and you could be progressing to university study in just one year.

Most Access courses require GCSEs (grade 4 and above) in English and Maths, however if don’t have one of these GCSEs, it may be possible to study one alongside your Access course.

We offer a range of pathways, including Healthcare, Humanities and Social Science, Nursing and Midwifery, Science, Social Science with Counselling and Humanities with Environmental Studies . You will be studying with a group of mature learners and will be supported in producing a range of assignments, controlled assessments and presentations, which will prepare you for studying at degree level.

You will undertake independent study and will need to have enough time available to complete course assessments. You will also have the opportunity to undertake relevant work experience as part of the course.

Many of our previous learners have gone on to degree level study at universities in their chosen area. Access courses open doors to a range of career areas that require degees, including nursing, midwifery, social work and teaching to name but a few.
