    • Course overview

      This course is a stepping stone into employment, university or drama school. You will gain the skills and knowledge to become competent, confident and innovative in your approach to your chosen career path. As part of the course, you will become part of our in-house performance company, Fleet Street Studios, leading and managing all projects. 

      You will have the opportunity to take on performance roles in a variety of shows, including musicals, screen acting, comedy drama, abstract performances, full length plays and film projects. You will also have the chance to undertake work experience with reputable providers which will help you build up your industry contacts

      We also work with professional performers and companies within the industry to provide excellent work experience and workshop opportunities for dancers and actors. These include Amy Dowden from Strictly Come Dancing, Vanhulle Dance Theatre, Ellis Theatre Arts, Flexus Dance Company, Imagine Ballet, Scare Acting, One Dance UK, National Brewery Centre, National Adventure Farm, Alton Towers, Derby Theatre and The Brewhouse.

    • Entry requirements

      Applicants will be expected to have achieved at least 64 UCAS points from relevant A Level/s, Extended Diploma Level 3 or BTEC National Qualifications, or an NVQ/VRQ 3 in a relevant discipline.

      (or) If you already have relevant industry experience but no formal qualifications, your application will be welcome and considered based on your experience.

      Performing Arts (ONLY)
      All applicants will be invited to attend and participate in an on-campus workshop audition.

      Applicants’ performance at our workshop auditions will be strictly and impartially judged against an approved marking rubric by a panel of no fewer than two vocational specialists. Following the audition, all applicants will receive personalised feedback on the outcome of their audition. Should for any reason an applicant’s performance not meet the prerequisite performance standard, then upon request applicants will be permitted one additional audition attempt per academic year.

    • How will I be assessed?

      As part of your study programme, we will prepare you for the professional world by developing your industry knowledge and providing opportunities for you to perform in shows for assessment. You will also have the opportunity to perform on stage for the College at various locations.

      Practical assessments take place across the year through studio-based assignments and performance (on stage) assessments.

      All units are internally assessed and verified by Pearson Education.

      Units with theory elements require logbooks, evaluations, blogs, presentations or reports. 

    • What can I do next?

      Successful completion of this course will give you the opportunity to progress onto the BA (Hons) in Contemporary Creative Practice: Dance and Theatre Arts. You could also go on to pursue a career in your chosen field.

      Career options include, but are not limited to, actor/screen actor, choreographer, dancer, set designer, stage manager and entertainer.

      Previous students have gone on to study at the following vocational schools: Midlands Academy of Dance & Drama, Stella Mann College of Performing Arts, Bird College, Rose Bruford College, The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Urdang Academy and London Central School of Speech and Drama. We also have links and ties with agencies and talent scouts with opportunities to join their books and gain representatives within the industry.

    • Uniform

      As part of your course, you will be required to purchase an industry related uniform and/or kit. Please find details of industry related uniforms in the Student Life section of the website.

      If you live independently and are in receipt of certain means tested benefits in your own right or live in a low-income household, you may be eligible for one of our grants.
