    • Course overview

This course will provide you with the relevant knowledge and understanding of massage techniques when working on the human body, and the anatomy behind this. A Sports Massage Therapist role includes planning, providing and evaluating sports massage treatments.

This course is practical based and hands on, focusing on treatments for pre, post, and inter-event maintenance and restorative purposes, using an array of fundamental massage techniques. Scope of practice is limited to working on dysfunctional tissue and excludes working on recent acute or pre-existing conditions.

Ideally, you will have an interest in sport, and previous knowledge of anatomy and physiology would be advantageous, however, no previous massage qualifications or experience is required. It would be beneficial to you to purchase your own massage equipment (fold away bed, towels and oils) for you to gain additional practice in your own time.

The 3 hour sessions will take place face to face with a course tutor on a weekly basis. We have links with a number of partners in the area where work experience can take place.
