Course overview
This qualification is awarded by Staffordshire University. To apply for this course, please apply directly to UCAS.
You will start at Level 4 in the first year, progressing to Level 5 in the second year. This award aims to enable you to become an employee within the industry, while also allowing you to progress onto the top up award, should you choose to do so.
During the course, you will gain over 70 hours of work experience in a placement in a school or similar setting. This will contribute to your assessment via the logbook and a critical reflection.
You will also have opportunities to gain coaching badges including Level 2 Multi Skills.

Entry requirements
Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 80 UCAS points from relevant A Level/s, level 3 Extended Diploma, NVQ, or equivalent qualification. (or) Several years' occupational experience within a relevant discipline will also be considered upon application.

How will I be assessed?
Students at each level are required to complete a variety of context-specific coursework and vocational assignments alongside written exams. These include essays, oral presentations, portfolio completion, project work, practical coaching observations, events organisation and report writing.
Students will also complete a work-based placement in the second year of the programme. -
What can I do next?
You could progress onto the Sport Coaching and Sport Development Top Up (BA Hons). You could also progress into a wide range of careers, including teaching, coaching, fitness instruction and sport development.
