    • Course overview

This course will allow you to develop the practical skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher in the Life Long Learning Sector. You will have the opportunity to explore the key educational theories and take a practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate the theoretical principles and knowledge you gain in a classroom based setting.

The course is taught through methods including classroom-based learning, 1:1 tutorial support, observations of your teaching practice and self-directed study time. You will also require a named mentor to support you throughout the course and observe your teaching.

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. All candidates must have access to 100 hours of teaching practice. It may be possible for those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers to also complete this qualification via a placement at the college. This qualification is widely recognised as the full qualification for teaching in the post-16 sector and offers a route towards Qualified Teacher and Lecturer Status (QTLS) after employment in the sector and the submission of a portfolio of CPD activities. The qualification also provides 120 CATS points which can be accredited towards a degree. Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is equivalent to a PGCE or DTLLS in post-compulsory education and training.

Please note: Specified course fee is per year.
