This programme is designed to re-ignite your passion for learning and try something new! It provides an opportunity to take part in a variety of subjects and hear from expert speakers in a sociable and friendly group setting.

SESSION 1 - WEDNESDAY 10TH & 17TH JANUARY

Cities of the Midnight Sun with Vanessa Tissington. We explore the impact of the extremes of light and darkness upon the communities of the northern most cities.
11:00am - 12:15pm - History
Ghengis Khan and the Mongolian Empire with Jackie Morgan. We find out what an amazing impact this empire had.
1:30pm - 3:30pm - Industry
The history of Derby Crown China with Elizabeth Woledge. We learn about the history of this local legendary industry.
SESSION 2 - WEDNESDAY 7TH & 21ST FEBRUARY

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. How it began and the work done today.
11:00am - 12:15pm - Keep fit
Some simple forms of exercise that we can do with Physiotherapist Melanie Parker.
1:30pm - 3:30pm - Art History
Taking a look at Bruegel with John Read. We explore his dynamic paintings.

The fictional narrative as a catalyst for social reform with Cheryl Hunter. Can writing really change society?
SESSION 4 - WEDNESDAY 24TH April & 1ST MAY
9:15am - 12:15pm - Textiles
with Sue Cuttle (15 learners maximum). Please try to stay with your usual group to keep the group sizes even.
1:30pm - 3:30pm - History
World War II featuring local happenings – with Malcolm Goode.
SESSION 5 - WEDNESDAY 22ND MAY
9:00am - 12:15pm - Trip to National Trust Dunham Massey, Cheshire
A garden for all seasons, including a rose garden, ancient deer park, and a house filled with treasures and stories. Plenty to explore, and of course, a café and National Trust shop.
