Course overview
This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age with applied knowledge in an early years setting with children aged birth–5 years.
Learners will need to attend a work based placement for one day a week within an early years setting for the duration of the course to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Applicants will be expected to have a recognised level 1 subject specific qualification
(or) An equivalent occupational experience -

How will I be assessed?
All units and knowledge-based outcomes will be internally assessed by course tutors using a range of methods. Skills-based outcomes must be achieved within a work-based early years placement and will include direct observation within the setting.

What can I do next?
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner within the Early Years Workforce.
Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles
such as:
- Nursery practitioner
- Classroom assistant
- Pre-school practitioner.
Learners are also able to progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other relevant Level 3 qualifications
