      Recognised by employers, this course is designed to provide a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements. It provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required to enter professional and management roles within the construction sector. The qualification is intended for those who wish to obtain a higher technician status within the industry, and it will open up opportunities to work in a variety of construction disciplines. 

      The BTEC Higher Technical Qualifications are an update the previous Higher National (HNC) programmes, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE). They are designed to provide a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and with a strong work-related emphasis. The Higher Technical qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the construction sector.

      Please note: Specified course fee is per year. For those looking to study this part time while in work, your construction employer is eligible for a CITB grant of up to £4,125 to offset against the costs of study.     • Entry requirements

      Applicants will be expected to have achieved at least 64 UCAS points from relevant A Level/s, Extended Diploma Level 3 or BTEC National Qualifications, or an NVQ/VRQ 3 in a relevant discipline.   

      (or) If you already have relevant industry experience but no formal qualifications, your application will be welcome and considered based on your experience.

      The course is assessed in a modular format through the utilisation of contextualised assignments, developing written, analytical and communication skills as an entry to higher education studies. 

    • What can I do next?

      Successful completion of the Higher Technical Qualification in Construction Management can lead to a degree or employment within the industry. The qualification is intended for those who wish to obtain a higher technician status within the industry and will open up opportunities to work in a variety of construction disciplines. Learners will study content key to progress, both in work and higher education, in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a wide range of technical roles.
