Kerry wins CIPD Student of the Year Award!

Kerry Annable, a Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) student who is expanding her knowledge in Human Resources with a Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management (HR) has won the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Student of the Year accolade.
Each year Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire CIPD celebrate the amazing contributions and achievements of students studying Human Resources Degrees in the Derbyshire/ Nottinghamshire area by selecting Students of the Year from local educational providers.
Kerry was nominated by teaching teams and was benchmarked against a number of criteria, including commitment to the course, quality of work, progression during the course and engagement with learning. The Prize has been sponsored by the CIPD and was presented during the CIPD’s Midlands branch meeting.
Kerry previously achieved the Level 3 qualification and went on to gain experience of working in HR. She recently decided to return to college to undertake the Level 5 CIPD People Management (Associate Diploma) course to help her underpin her knowledge and give her more confidence in her abilities within the HR field.
Kerry’s tutor at BSDC, Clare Wright said: “Kerry has been an excellent exemplar student; she has shown dedication and commitment to the Associate Diploma in Human Resource Management course. She has been a valued member of the classroom, sharing experiences and examples of good practice from her working history in human resources.”
Kerry, commented: “I feel incredibly proud and honoured to have been chosen for the CIPD Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Branch Student Award 2021-2022 and that all my hard work has been recognised.
“I have enjoyed the studying within the classroom environment and felt engaged in learning. I also enjoyed the discussions with other learners about their HR experiences. The tutor was also a big influence on my achievement, as she made each lesson interesting and insightful.”
Kerry now hopes to pursue a HR Advisor role and is thinking of embarking on the CIPD level 7 course in the near future.
