Students create marketing campaign plan for local brand!

    12 May 2023

Burton and South Derbyshire College Business students have teamed up with local clothing brand, ‘Anti-Social Athletes Club’ to pitch a dynamic marketing campaign plan designed to increase awareness and sales for the company.

The hands-on project gave students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned during the first year of their course into a real-world setting.

Brand owner, Adam Bailey, initially visited students to give students the brief, which was a chance for them to meet the face behind the brand and ask questions to help them with the creation of their campaign.

Students then completed a market research task, including primary and secondary data relating to competitors, market size, share and structure, target market, trends, external influences, costs, timescale and media options. From this, they worked in groups to prepare a rationale for a marketing campaign, which included marketing aims and objectives, market research data, competition analysis and a justification for the rationale.

Students were then tasked with presenting a budgeted plan and a timescale for the marketing campaign to Adam. The group with the winning campaign will now receive prizes donated from the brand as a reward for their hard work and creativity, as well as a discount code for all who took part.

Sophie Asker, Business Course Leader at BSDC said: “The collaboration with the Anti-Social Athletes Club was a great opportunity for learners to gain real work experience of producing marketing campaign plans to an employer brief. This project underscores the importance of practical, applied learning experiences for students as they develop the skills for their future careers.”

Adam Bailey, Owner of Anti-Social Athletes Club added: “I hope the project was beneficial for the students - if it inspires just one of them in their future career choice then it's been successful. It was great that the students got so involved and they have given me lots of ideas for marketing the brand.”
