BSDC students display creativity at end of year exhibition

Creative students from Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) recently unveiled an impressive display of artwork during their end of year Creative Exhibition.

The opening night took place on Monday 16th June at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton on Trent, featuring lots of inspiring artwork and pieces. A highlight of the event included a lively fashion show, featuring original collections from some of the students’ own designs.

Among the many talented contributors were Art and Design student Lila McAndrews, who was thrilled to receive a Team Leader Award, and Ked Kukuks, who won ‘Best in Show’ for his creative piece. Reflecting on her win, Lila said: “This project was a passion of mine, so I was extremely surprised to find out that I’d won an award. It made me realise other people liked my work as much as I did!”

The exhibition is a highly anticipated annual event that offers students a valuable platform to present their creativity and dedication, while also inviting the wider community to explore the diverse and emerging talent at Burton and South Derbyshire College.

More than just a showcase, the event serves as a celebration of the creative industries and highlights students’ achievements across various areas, including fashion, art, film, photography, graphics and product design. It marks the culmination of their hard work, innovation and artistic growth throughout the year.

It was not only a celebration of their achievements but also a reflection of who they are becoming as people; thoughtful, imaginative individuals ready to embrace the next stage of their journey."
