British Council honours BSDC with International School Award

Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) has recently been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award, recognising its outstanding commitment to bringing global perspectives into the classroom.
The 2026 award ceremony took place at Westminster on Monday 2nd February and was attended by Members of Parliament and representatives from schools and colleges across the UK.
This award celebrates schools and colleges that demonstrate exceptional practice in global education. Embedding an international dimension into the curriculum is central to the British Council’s work with schools, helping young people develop the cultural awareness and skills they need to thrive in today’s interconnected world.
As a truly global college, BSDC is a leading exporter of international further education, working in partnership with institutions across the world. Current projects span a range of countries across Asia and Europe.
These international collaborations enhance the learning experience of home students by broadening their understanding of global practice and cultural expectations within their vocational programmes. Students also benefit from opportunities to participate in cultural exchange programmes with countries such as China and South Korea.
