From September 2022, Burton and South Derbyshire College will be offering the 'Next Level Qualification', T-levels.
After GCSEs, students can now study T-levels, qualifications that combine in-class learning and work experience. This new qualification is the equivalent to 3 A levels.
We will be offering courses in Engineering (Machining) and Education and Childcare. T-Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. A T-Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.
T-Level students spend 80% of the course in the classroom, learning the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where they put these skills into action. T-Levels have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study.
Each T-Level includes an in-depth industry placement that lasts at least 45 days. This gives students valuable experience in the workplace while giving employers the opportunity to develop new talent in their industry.
