In the words of BSDC employees…

“It is great to see how the work done at the College contributes to the success of the learners, their welfare and their future. I find the College a truly inspirational environment to work in.”

“There is so much innovation and enthusiasm for teaching, learning and assessment.”

“We have a lovely community spirit.”

    Fiona Hackett, Industry Placement Officer

“I was previously a Family Support Worker in the East Staffordshire community. I enjoyed working with young adults and often signposted them to BSDC as a further education option, as there was so much variety at the college. This led me to apply for my role at BSDC. The workplace and the culture are fantastic; the staff are welcoming and friendly, and always try to support your success.”

    Lia Marcer, Beauty Lecturer

“With the support of the amazing staff, I started my teacher training journey here at BSDC. I was able to work within the busy salon environment at Innovations and do my teacher training on the side. I had a great support network and everything was under one roof. I enjoy teaching Beauty and passing on all the things I have learnt to our passionate and aspiring beauty therapists.”

    Lia Marcer, Beauty Lecturer
    Rob Stevenson, Protective Services Lecturer

“I served 24 years with the British Army and have worked with West Midlands Ambulance Service as a volunteer for almost 15 years. As a course leader, I get the chance to pass on my knowledge to the next generation of public service workers. It allows me to prepare students for employability by teaching leadership and problem-solving skills, but also embedding real-life values.”

    John Beaty, Principal

"During my time here we have implemented a lot of positive changes and built upon the strong heritage BSDC has within the communities we serve. With even more progressive changes planned for the future we’re in a really strong position to succeed in our aim of becoming a Vibrant and Outstanding College with a local, regional, national and international reputation for excellence."
