Students display terrifying talents with Halloween Extravaganza!
04 November 2022
Hair and Beauty and Performing Arts students at Burton and South Derbyshire College recently collaborated to perform a Halloween themed show in the College’s Fleet Street theatre space as part of an induction activity.
Musical Theatre students used their scare acting skills to create a performance of a Halloween song with movement, followed by a choreographed dance routine performed by Dance students. Meanwhile, hair and beauty students collaborated to create Halloween themed hair and makeup. Each group had to create a mood board and overall look to be presented catwalk to a panel of industry experts. Students sold tickets for the event, raising money for the Cancer Research charity.
Speaking about the event, Hairdressing Course Leader, Laura Hollins said: “The induction showcase was a great opportunity for students to work together and get creative with hair and beauty. It was also wonderful to see them collaborating with Performing Arts students to put on a Halloween inspired performance during the event.”
Oly Wright, Musical Theatre Course Leader added: “The students did a fantastic job in using the skills they have learnt so far on the course to deliver a polished live performance in front of family and friends in the audience. This will be the first of many live performances that students will undertake, including musicals, a pantomime and a dance festival.”
