Trips and visits
You will have the chance to go on trips and visits specific to your specialist area. For instance, last year our automotive students had the chance to visit the Autosport Show, the Truck Show, Santa Pod Racetrack and Pirelli UK, in addition to meeting with guest speakers including Halfords who offer annual trade discount cards.
Meanwhile all learners studying with the Stephen Burke Construction Academy benefit from discount at TW Wholesale; suppliers of high-quality equipment, tooling and PPE.
Industry Partners
All engineering and automotive technology courses will include an element of work experience within relevant, local industries. We work in partnership with industry employers in the Midlands, such as Toyota, Land Rover and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, to provide exciting work experience opportunities and to ensure that you develop the skills and expertise employers in the engineering industry are looking for. Many of our students have gone on to secure permanent, full-time employment from their work placement.
Outstanding individuals who demonstrate key employability and leadership skills are put forward for an annual Learner of the Year award, sponsored by Mercedes AMG High Performance Power Trains, which offers work experience placement and guaranteed interview for a job upon completion of the course.
The Academy is proud of its partnership with Toyota Manufacturing UK who offer apprenticeships and support curriculum design to ensure our curriculum reflects the demands of industry.
The College works alongside local employers to assist in sourcing work experience and industry placements which enhance skills and personal development, learning and employability.
The College is also proud of our Valeting Centre in partnership with industry experts, Autoclenz. The academy, which is based in our Motor Vehicle Workshops, gives students the opportunity to learn the latest techniques and processes to become a qualified professional valeter.
