Burton and South Derbyshire College’s Mulberry Bistro took part in the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 27th September.

Catering and Hospitality students served an impressive assortment of freshly baked cakes, tea and coffee, as well as hosted a raffle to raise funds for the charity.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. The charity asks people all over the UK to host their own coffee mornings, and donations on the day are made to Macmillan in return for a slice of cake and a hot drink. This year, The Mulberry Bistro raised a fantastic £500 for the charity.

Burton and South Derbyshire College’s Mulberry Bistro runs alongside The Mulberry Fine Dining Restaurant, serving high quality snacks, meals and drinks. The College’s bistro and restaurant give Catering and Hospitality students the opportunity to prepare and serve food under the close supervision of expert tutors, as they develop professional skills for their future careers.

Loren Bridgart, Mulberry Bistro Supervisor, commented: “Our students were delighted to take part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It was a great opportunity for them to use their skills to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.”
