Student actors land roles at Screamfest

    12 November 2021

A selection of Performing Arts students from Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) recently used their talents to scare after landing roles as actors at the National Forest Adventure Farm’s Screamfest.

For 13 nights in October, the National Forest Adventure Farm was transformed at night into a terrifying Halloween experience with scare attractions. Each attraction had a strong storyline, show programmed music and lighting, detailed sets and defined characters.

During the event’s run, student actors were transformed into demons, zombies, clowns, witches and vampires to make up the scare attractions. All actors taking part received additional training from the National Forest Adventure Farm’s performance scare experts, specialising in scare techniques to provide the ultimate experience.

Burton and South Derbyshire College’s Performing Arts courses prepare students for the professional world by developing their industry knowledge and getting them involved in opportunities to perform in shows and on stage at various locations. Students benefit from expert lecturers with industry links and experience, and can progress to university level courses in dance and theatre arts.

Gemma Haley, Performing Arts Lecturer at Burton and South Derbyshire College commented: “Screamfest is a fantastic event and students were delighted to have the opportunity to get involved. Projects like this provide great work experience for students, as they prepare for their future careers.”
