Course overview
Endorsed by The British Esports Association, the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports will give you a solid foundation in understanding how the Esports industry works. This is a career-focused course, developed in consultation with key stakeholders, to ensure it is appropriate and consistent with current industry practice to enable learners to enter employment. Learners will develop technical knowledge and transferable skills, and gain experience in a variety of different sections of the Esports industry.
This programme has been set up in conjunction with local employers. Learners will further develop employability skills specifically relating to cognitive and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and intrapersonal skills. These key skills are aligned to our BSDC skills promise. As well as this, learners will be involved in setting up and coordinating cross-college esports competitions.
Equivalent to three A-levels, this course is designed to be studied as part of a two-year study programme. Studying for the Level 3 National Extended Diploma will allow you access to employment in a wider range of Esports areas. The course will be facilitated with a brand-new gaming suite, including a feature stage for competitions and a production studio for content creation. It will be equipped with computers, consoles, keyboards, headphones and other items needed for esports events and competitions.
This qualification is intended for post-16 learners wanting to progress directly to employment in the Esports industry and other related industries. Additionally, the breadth of optional content in this qualification allows learners to widen their opportunities to progress to a number of different higher education courses. If you would like to develop a range of skills within the Esports and related industries, then this is the qualification for you.

Entry requirements
Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including either English or maths

The primary focus of the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports is to allow you to progress to employment across a range of roles.

English & Maths
Being confident with maths and English is not only important for everyday life but it’s expected as standard in the world of work. We’re committed to ensuring our learners have the full range of skills that universities and employers are looking for. If you haven’t yet achieved grade 4 (grade C) in English and maths and are aged between 16-18 years, you will continue to study these by undertaking a GCSE re-sit programme or appropriate stepping stone qualifications in addition to your vocational learning programme.
